CUC Far West deliver a suite of outreach and Widening Participation programs aimed at nurturing the aspirations for higher education and careers of local young people. Our programs include:
Dream Thinkers Far West Program
Dream Thinkers Far West is a hands-on, interactive and engaging primary school program aimed at Stage 3 students. The program focuses on providing Year 5 & 6 students opportunities to explore strengths and interest areas, while also illuminating countless study and career possibilities, allowing students to imagine their futures. New Horizons Program
The New Horizons Program aims to support students in Year 9-12 in developing skills and understanding to navigate post-school transitions. We will provide contextually relevant strategies to students in the Far West, transferable across higher education, vocational training, and employment. The program is designed as a student–led model with CUC staff to facilitate participation, discussions, and collaboration. The framework of the activities is built upon an interactive approach to learning with a focus on student engagement.
Gen Inspired
The Gen Inspired program is a new program aimed at young people 15-24 years of age. The program aims to increase the inclusion, participation, and connections of young people in Broken Hill through weekly workshops focused on life skill development. Activities will focus on building knowledge and skills, enabling access to opportunities for study, training, employment, mentorship, and connections with external stakeholders to inspire further community participation and inclusion.
UOW Future Me Program
CUC Far West support the face-to-face facilitation of the UOW Future Me Program. The program is targeted at local Year 12 students and supports them to gain skills and knowledge regarding post-school options, as well as enhance their study skills for success in their final year of schooling.
